WorldRemit is a cross-border digital payments service that provides international money transfer and remittance services in more than 130 countries and over 70 currencies. It was founded in 2010 past Ismail Ahmed, Catherine Wines, and Richard Igoe.[3]

WorldRemit was founded in 2010 by Ismail Ahmed, a one-time compliance advisor to the United Nations Development Programme.[four] [5] In Oct 2018, the business firm announced that he would be stepping into the role of executive chairman and the company would be bringing in Breon Corcoran as CEO.[6]
Operations [edit]
WorldRemit focuses on mobile-to-mobile money transfer, 100% cashless from the sending side. For those receiving coin, it offers options including bank eolith, mobile money, mobile airtime height-upward and cash collection.
The firm has a network of more than five,000 corridors. It is connected to mobile money services globally, including M-Pesa (Republic of kenya), MTN (Africa and Asia), and bKash (Bangladesh). As of October 2019, it can send funds to 115 different countries; this includes all African countries except for Sudan, Due south Sudan, Eswatini, Eritrea, Great socialist people's libyan arab jamahiriya, and Algeria.[7]
In 2022 WorldRemit acquired Sendwave, some other cross-border digital payments company. In 2022 the two processed 50m transactions and facilitated the sending of over $10bn.[ commendation needed ]

WorldRemit is backed by venture capital companies Accel Partners[viii] and Technology Crossover Ventures (TCV).[9]
In February 2022 the firm announced a $100m Serial B funding round led by TCV.[10] It was also announced that TCV General Partner John Rosenberg would join its lath.[11]
In 2017, the firm received $40 million in their Series C round of funding, with LeapFrog Investments the atomic number 82 investor .[iii] In 2019, it raised a $175 one thousand thousand Series D funding round, led by TCV, Accel, and Leapfrog Investments.[12]
